Life
When I graduated from EHS, BCCC, and OU, my name was Ronald (Ronnie) Van Fleet. That is not who I was or am. After fighting all my life to be happy the way I was and after over 6 years of therapy, I decided to fix my body to match my mind. Yes, I am a transsexual woman. I was diagnosed with gender identity dysphoria by three therapists in those 6 years of therapy. After the fourth diagnosis early in 2006, I started hormone replacement therapy (HRT), laser hair removal, and electrolysis to remove the remainder of my facial hair. My name legally changed on December 15th of 2006 and my gender marker was also changed by the same court, from male to female. My agency knows of my transition and they, as well as the City of Fort Worth (as an employer) support it. In fact, they were involved in planning my absence in 2006 for my gender reassignment surgery.
On January 4, 2008, I underwent genital reassignment surgery in Trinidad Colorado with Dr. Marci Bowers. I returned to work in March and I am now living my life with a smile on my face, finally.

Early in 2009, I met a wonderful man and started a relationship with him. He knew about my "past" from the beginning and he is okay with it. He asked me to marry him on August 29th of that year and we were married on November 6, 2010. My life has gone full circle and I have never been happier in my life. I know that he will always be there for me and take good care of me.
One thing I have learned...if you are not happy with yourself, you will never be able to be happy for anyone else.
On August 24, 2013, I suffered four heart attacks. When I went to the ER, they ran an EKG and didn't see anything out of the normal. They kept me overnight and ran a blood profile every hour, which showed an enzyme increasing with time...indicating that there was heart problems. They did a heart cath the next day and discovered that two of my arteries were 90% blocked and another one was 70% blocked. I underwent triple bypass later that day. I was released on September 12. Today I am still mending and every day I get a little bit stronger. I am back to work and am in Phase III of Cardiac Rehab. Life is getting back to normal...whatever THAT is.
